How much more as motorists can we take? Taxes, bans, limits and we are responsible for global warming.

Captain Gatso: Top copper fails again

I think this Daily Mail story is hilarious. Here's another think-skinned, tetchy top copper using official resources to 'protect' his reputation. Or that could read 'to suppress the truth'. Who knows? Anyway enjoy....

Police chief forces staff to monitor his Wikipedia entry to stop users posting rude comments about him

A chief constable has told his staff to monitor online encyclopedia Wikipedia - to stop its users posting rude comments about him.

Sir Norman Bettison took exception to being described as a "greedy, vain moron" on the online encyclopaedia, according to Police Review magazine.

The 52-year-old chief constable of West Yorkshire - favourite to succeed Sir Ian Blair as head of the Met - has ordered employees to check for changes often.

Wikipedia entries can be edited by anyone with an internet connection.

This has led to West Yorkshire staff and other Wikipedia users becoming involved in an "edit war" - where two sides repeatedly change a page.

One Wikipedia user had inserted paragraphs, entitled "Controversy", which referred to a vote Sir Norman initiated to change police shift patterns.

This was removed by his staff, according to Police Review, and they added chunks from his official biography on the West Yorkshire force website.

However, Wikipedia frowns upon having information cut and pasted from other sites.

Captain Gatso: Hurrah for sensible politicians!

Looks like the Conservatives have seen sense.

Leaving aside your own personal politics go to the link below and enjoy, for once, a sensible policy paper about our cars and transport system.

This is the link at conway.org .

This group celebrates the freedom brought by car ownership and shames this government in raising £44.6 billion for the Treasury but only seeing £7 billion spent on our roads in return.

This must stop!

And well done too for nailing the fallocy that by building more roads you carete more traffic. You don't. A booming economy does that.

Stop punishing honest, hard working motorists.

Oh and for those of you out there who blame for cars for pollution and want to bring in emission charges. Read this next bit - you won't like it but since when did the truth ever stop this in authority from nailing us with more greedy taxes?

I quote:

The main components of vehicle exhaust gas are harmless nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water
vapour. There are also traces of compounds that in high concentrations can be harmful to
health, such as carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, benzene, particulates and sulphur dioxide.
Advances in engine technology have led to dramatic reductions in these compounds, despite
rising traffic levels: between 1980 and 2003, emissions of carbon monoxide fell by 74 per cent,
nitrogen oxides by 33 per cent, benzene by 90 per cent, and sulphur dioxide by over 70 per
cent. Emissions of particulates from road transport fell by 46 per cent from 1990 to 2001, with
around a quarter of particulates coming from road transport sources, mostly diesel-engined
vehicles.

I could quote the rest of it but I urge you to download it and enjoy it at your leisure.
