News today of the supposed success of the speed cameras on the A14 in Cambridgeshire has, rightly, brought an incredulous reaction from the people who use that road.
I have done several radio interviews this morning and I am telling people that the best form of defence is to go invisible. Simply remove your front number plate and place on the dashboard or in the passenger footwell of your vehicle.
And then if stopped by police - which is highly unlikely - you merely apologise to the officer and state that the number plate was knocked off in a supermarket car park and you haven't had the opportunity to put it back on.
Most number plates these days are held on by double sided sticky tape.
You will end up with either telling off or possibly a £30 fixed penalty notice for construction and use regulations for failing to display a number plate.
And the best thing is - no points!!
