One of my biggest issues with speed cameras is that they remove from the roads police who can spot other illegal activity.

And people should drive for the conditions of the road.

I have a Venn diagram which shows that off all the drivers sent NIPS through the post - say for doing 33mph in a 30mph zone - only around 5 per cent are problem drivers. Sadly, I can't get the image to show. We will fix that!

The rest are just ordinary drivers going about their business and perhaps just driving a few miles over the speed limit. Are the police really trying to imply that everyone caught 'speeding' is a maniac? I think so!

So we are all lumped together and for the sake of Government statistics we aren't broken down to the speeders who are doing ridiclous speeds in built-up areas and who throughly deserve to be prosecuted.

Speedaholics - we aren't about driving at lunatic speeds. We are about using common sense in the Government's approach in dealing with the real speeding issues.

But then we've all become something of a cash cow.

More money for Northern Rock anyone??
